Nonprofit Solutions

Our dedicated team has worked with every nonprofit sector — arts and culture, social services, human services, religious organizations, education, private foundations, and others.

Haverford is proud of its nonprofit clients that have entrusted us to manage their assets, assist them in investment policy/spending policy matters, and spearhead asset allocation discussions with their Investment Committees, Boards of Directors, and Trustees. Haverford’s ongoing partnerships within the nonprofit community are a testament to our philanthropic beliefs and our value-added services.

To address the unique needs of our nonprofit clients, Haverford goes beyond the role of investment manager to contribute the time and expertise of our staff and our direct financial support for their work. Among Haverford’s clients are nonprofit organizations dedicated to expanding education, helping children at risk, improving healthcare and expanding access to the arts.

Below are some of Haverford’s nonprofit clients:

Children at Risk

Thorncroft Therapeutic Riding helps build the physical, emotional and mental well-being of all people, particularly those with special needs, by establishing an atmosphere of cooperation, respect and love in an equestrian environment. They are committed to a mainstreaming approach for teaching horseback riding and to promoting the development of new and independent therapeutic riding programs. Haverford helped create and execute Thorncroft’s investment policy and works to ensure the preservation of their endowment in times of need.

Healthcare

Community Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) coordinates the services of more than 250 volunteer licensed medical and dental professionals and receives donated prescription medications from 30 pharmaceutical providers to serve Chester County’s uninsured working poor, who have little or no other access to affordable care. As a partner of CVIM, Haverford not only manages investments but handles stock donation transactions, including title transfer, sale of stock, consolidation with cash donations and processing tax letters for donors.

Arts

The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) is a national leader in fine arts education that brings together artists and the public through exceptional teaching programs, a world-class collection of American art, major exhibitions, and widely accessible public programs. PAFA, as America’€s first School of Fine Arts and Museum attracts some of the most committed and promising students from across the country and around the globe to study painting, drawing, printmaking, and sculpture with a distinguished faculty of working artists. The Museum has assembled what scholars and collectors describe as one of the three finest collections of American art in the world, from colonial masters like John Singleton Copley and Benjamin West, to major contemporary artists such as Red Grooms and Faith Ringgold. Haverford supports the Academy’s sophisticated Board and finance committee on Board development, fundraising, friend-raising and investment policy development. We are also the presenting sponsor of one of the Academy’s premier annual events.

Education

AIM – Academy In Manayunk is the vision of a team of professional educators, community leaders and concerned parents who recognized that the Philadelphia region needed to expand the programs and research-to-practice approaches for children with learning differences. While other schools in the region offer learning-disabled children an education, AIM prides itself in a blended approach of combining rigorous academics, visual and performing arts and sports to develop the life-long learner and future leaders of tomorrow. Haverford was there at the start, when the AIM founders shared their vision with us and we showed them how, financially, to turn it into reality. Today, we partner with AIM on everything from investment strategy and Board development to service on the finance committee.
